Description

The SMARTEMP® Slotted Swirl Diffuser, type SSC-AD (Figure 1), provides manually adjustable discharge direction from horizontal to vertical, together with an adjustable discharge pattern from 4-way to 3-way and 2-way airflow distribution. Adjustable vanes incorporating pilot slots (patent pending) enable high airflow rates to be effectively discharged while maintaining excellent air distribution performance.

The SSC-AD diffuser can be flush-mounted within a ceiling or freely suspended without requiring Coandă attachment to the ceiling surface. The rectangular airflow vanes are integrated into the flat square diffuser face and arranged in either a circular or square radial configuration (Figures 4 and 5). Each vane can be individually adjusted to provide vertical discharge for cooling applications, horizontal discharge for heating applications, or closed to modify the airflow pattern (Figures 2 and 3). This allows the diffuser to be fully closed or configured for 2-way or 3-way discharge patterns to suit specific room layouts and airflow requirements.

The diffuser vanes are manufactured from black polycarbonate, while the flat diffuser face is constructed from powder-coated steel, providing a durable and aesthetically clean finish.

The highly inductive swirl discharge rapidly mixes the supply air with surrounding room air, quickly equalising temperatures and preventing cold air dumping. This ensures a more uniform temperature distribution throughout the space, eliminating areas of discomfort caused by cold draughts or stagnant hot zones. The high induction characteristics also improve heating performance by increasing the mass flow rate of the supply air through room air entrainment while rapidly reducing discharge velocity.
