Description
The SMARTEMP® Jet Swirl Diffuser, type JSC-AD (Figure 1), provides adjustable discharge direction from horizontal to vertical, making it suitable for applications requiring extremely high discharge heights. In cooling mode, the diffuser provides horizontal discharge with a strong swirl pattern, creating high induction and excellent mixing characteristics throughout the occupied space. In heating mode, the diffuser delivers a concentrated vertical air jet without swirl, achieving exceptionally long downward throw distances.
The JSC-AD diffuser can be flush-mounted within a ceiling or freely suspended without requiring Coandă attachment to the ceiling surface. The design incorporates cambered radial swirl vanes surrounding a central core tube, which houses the adjustment mechanism. These components are recessed within a round bell-mouth casing with a suspended guide ring and integrated jet straightener.
Manufactured from powder-coated aluminium, the JSC-AD diffuser offers adjustable discharge direction through manual adjustment, a self-acting thermostatic element, or electrically motorised control. The airflow can be adjusted from a horizontally projecting swirl discharge to a vertically projecting jet.
When operating in horizontal discharge mode, the diffuser produces a highly inductive swirl pattern that creates intense mixing. The highly turbulent supply air stream rapidly entrains large quantities of room air, causing the discharge velocity to decay quickly. This results in improved draught-free comfort and a uniform temperature distribution throughout the occupied space.
The vertical jet discharge mode enables effective heating in applications requiring large penetration depths and extreme discharge heights. The stable airflow characteristics of the JSC-AD across a wide range of supply air temperatures make it particularly suitable for high-ceiling applications, including sports arenas, exhibition halls, and large industrial facilities.
